How many times have you emptied the Windows Recycle Bin, only to remember that you accidentally deleted a very important file or photo? Until a few years ago, something like this could scare anyone to the point of always having to ask for the help of a professional in the sector.

Technology makes it easier for computer data recovery, recover files deleted from your computer by mistake, and we don’t even have to take the computer to the technician: You can do it all yourself, with the right programs!

When you delete a file, an empty space is left that can be immediately occupied by a new one. This will make their recovery difficult. For this reason you have to act quickly when you want to recover documents or photos. It is important that once you have realized that you have deleted a file that is important to you, you stop using the computer to avoid overwriting the deleted file; new files could take up free space making it more difficult to recover.

    Tips to Recover Deleted Files

For security reasons, do not install too many programs, as they provide malware and hackers with a potential attack target. An exception applies to programs for data recovery: we recommend installing them before a data crash occurs. This is because each write access to the disk reduces the probability that data recovery will be successful if important stored files are lost. A data rescuer also writes to the drive when it is installed.

You can prevent inadvertent overwriting of data by installing data protectors as a precaution when all data is still available; this is the most important. The source and destination drives must be different. Additionally, you must be sure that you use your data recovery software correctly: Do not save the files for recovery on the same drive as the files. If you lose data on C: drive for example, save to D: or E: and so on.

Keep external memory as free as possible. This way, your computer’s operating system will not be forced to separate files and place them in other free spaces on the hard drive. Remember that many times data recovery is a matter of luck. Even if you did everything right and used good recovery software, ransomware will not always work. The less time that passes between the deletion and your rescue attempts, the better your chances of recovering your files.

Recover Files From A Damaged Hard Drive

If you are having problems accessing files on your computer, it is very likely that the hard drive is damaged. Ideally, when you notice this situation, you make a backup copy of the files that you can still see to avoid major problems. Once done, check with the Windows tool those checks and repairs errors: error check (right click on the hard drive you want to check > properties > tools > error check) or CHKDSK.

If after doing this the errors continue and you do not recover your files, you have to opt for hard drive recovery and repair software. The important thing is that the hard drive can be plugged into your computer and recognized as a hard drive. It doesn’t matter if it can be read or not. Data recovery programs are responsible for analyzing and searching for the information you need, some will even repair damaged disk drives to make it functional again.

Tricks To Improve Security In The Future

Suffering from a loss of information, important files or photos is a situation you do not want to experience twice. Nobody likes having to recover deleted files every time. Therefore, it is important that you take security measures; not only on your computer, but also in the way you save and send information. Remember that in any circumstance it is always better to prevent than to repair.

To avoid losing valuable data and files you have to be proactive. Minimize the risk of file loss as much as possible by putting these simple tricks into practice:

Create a Backup of all your Files

Have the discipline to make a backup copy of all the files that you consider important. Make a routine always at the same time to create the backup. So that it becomes a habitual and even mechanical practice for you. Make sure the backup is saved. Either in the cloud or on another hard drives, and verify that it has been created correctly to avoid future problems.

Keep the Antivirus Updated on your Computer

Antivirus software is designed to protect your computer against malicious computer viruses, Trojan horses, and other programs that seek to corrupt your system. Some virus infections can secretly delete, modify your data and cause your computer to crash. Most viruses today spread over the Internet and it is imperative to have secure antivirus software with a firewall. Be sure to update your antivirus software with the latest patches and signature files for maximum security.

    Practice Good Work Habits

While using your computer, if you work in an orderly manner, you will avoid significant data loss. This will also help you increase the chances of a successful recovery. Divide your disk into a program and data zone. Try to keep the naming of your files and directories simple and direct. If you are not using your computer for a long period of time, turn it off. Do not activate the power saving mode and leave it for a long time.

Keep your computer in a dry, dust-free and well-ventilated area.Never leave your computer near places where it is directly exposed to rain, sun or light.
